RECOMMENDED DONATIONS FOR VISITORS TO INCREASE FROM APRIL 2010

Issued Wednesday 11th November 2009
Recommended Donations for visitors to increase from April 2010

Visitor donations are vital to Salisbury Cathedral’s continued operation as a living church, it costs £14,000 per day to run and maintain this glorious medieval Cathedral. We receive no financial support from the government or Church of England. Our recommended donation levels for visitors have remained the same for three years, during which we have continued to improve the visitor experience, but to help us cover our running costs, and the cost of our Major Repair Programme, from April 2010 we are increasing our recommended donation levels by approximately 10% for adults. The new suggested donations for a visit to Salisbury Cathedral are:

Adults £5.50
Concessions (Senior/Student) £4.50
Children (5-17) £3 (no change)
Groups (min. 15) £4.25
Groups (Children) £2.50 (no change)
Tower Tour (Adult) £8.50
Tower Tour (Concession) £6.50

Financial support is needed to conserve the fabric of the building; to provide music which is both outstanding and moving; and to make real the glory and presence of God in the world for more than 250,000 visitors every year.
