Visiting the Magna Carta
Salisbury Cathedral’s copy of Magna Carta is perhaps the best preserved of the four remaining original exemplars. It is presented in the Chapter House. The remaining 1215 Magna Carta are held at The British Library and Lincoln Castle.
Volunteer Guides are on hand to discuss the document and answer visitors' many questions. Display panels in the Chapter House explain the story of how Magna Carta came about, and its enduring modern relevence. Translations of the interpretation are available in German, Spanish, Italian and French. The Cathedral's Shop stocks a range of Magna Carta merchandise and memorabilia.
Salisbury Cathedral has exciting plans to deliver a new interpretive exhibition, including a re-presentation of the Magna Carta itself in early 2015.
