The Deanery
Named Symonsbury Place after the last known medieval canon to occupy this site, Number 7 became the Deanery in 1922 and is attached to the office of the Dean and Chapter at Number 6.
The present house was built around 1660 by Frances Sambrook and by the 17th century had been leased by the youngest son of Wadham Wyndham and successive members of his family. It's general Georgian appearance, possibly due to Wyndhams, is belied by the earlier chimneys which are stylistically closer to the period of the Restoration of Charles II
