Cathedral Governance
The governance of the Cathedral is regulated by Statute, as required by the Cathedrals Measure 1999. The governing body of Salisbury Cathedral is the Chapter, which meets at least eleven times a year.

Two Canons in Holy Orders
The Revd Alan Jeans
Alan has spent his whole life in the Diocese, serving at the Altar in Ensbury Park, Bournemouth and then training for the ordained ministry at Salisbury and Wells Theological college in the mid eighties. He served his title in Parkstone, Poole, and then was incumbent at Bishops Cannings, All Cannings and Etchilhampton near Devizes, until moving back to Salisbury in 1998 as Parish Development Advisor until 2005. He was appointed Archdeacon of Sarum in 2003, and from September 2007 has been the Diocesan Director of Ordinands whilst continuing as AD Sarum. Alan is married to Anita, has two grown up daughters, loves walking, cooking and his MG car.
The Revd Dr J Coates
Jean Coates is a parish priest of a rural multi-parish benefice of 5 churches in Dorset; she is also the Diocese of Salisbury's Rural Officer for Dorset. Before her ordination Jean was on the staff of the Department of Agriculture in the University of Reading.Lay Canons
Lay Canon - Mrs Jane Barker
Mrs Jane Barker is the Chief Executive Officer of Equitas Limited, the company set up to reinsure and run off the 1992 and prior years' non-life liabilities of Lloyd's of London Syndicates. She had previously been the Finance Director since the incorporation of the Equitas Group. Jane is a Chartered Accountant. She is a non executive director of Santander UK plc and of Marsh Limited. She is the Deputy Chair of Council of the Royal College of Music and she sits on the Chapter of Salisbury Cathedral where she chairs the financial advisory group. Her previous executive roles included that of Finance Director of the London Stock Exchange. In a non executive capacity she has served on the Council of the Open University and chaired its Audit Committee.
Lay Canon - Mr Luke March
Luke March is well known in the Salisbury area, having been the Chairman of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust since 2005. He was formerly Compliance Director at the Royal Mail, and performed similar roles for BT Group and TSB Group as well as being Chief Executive of the Mortgage Code Compliance Board. Luke has long been a supporter of the Cathedral and was invited to become a Lay Canon in 2007. A Choral Music enthusiast, he lives in Great Durnford, near Salisbury.
Lay Canon - Dr Lydia Brown
Lydia Brown is a veterinary surgeon who works for an International veterinary pharmaceutical company and is also a member of Chapter of Salisbury Cathedral and a governor of Salisbury Cathedral School. She lives just outside Salisbury and is a non executive director of Salisbury District Hospital as well as a trustee of a number of veterinary related charities.
Lay Canon - Mrs Eugenie Turton
Mrs Eugenie Turton is a former senior public servant who now works as a Non-Executive Director in the private and charitable sectors.She is a non executive adviser to the Wates Group and also on the boards of a large charitable housing association ( Genesis ), the executive search company Rockpools, Dulwich Picture Gallery (and Chair of DPG Enterprises), of the Horniman Museum, the Wessex Archaeological Trust, and the Sir Edward Heath Charitable Foundation. She is an Associate (and mentor with) a private/public sector networking group (Critical Eye). She is a lay member of Salisbury Cathedral Chapter.
